The Universal Ads Canva app allows advertisers to publish video creative from Canva directly into their Universal Ads Creative Library. This helps reduce manual upload steps, minimize creative validation errors, and make it easier to move from creative development to campaign launch.
Note: The Universal Ads Canva app currently supports video creative only. Static image editing is not supported.
How to connect Canva to Universal Ads
Before publishing creative, you'll need to connect your Canva and Universal Ads accounts.
- Navigate to Canva’s App Marketplace and install the Universal Ads app.
- Click Connect to sync your Canva account to Universal Ads.
- Sign in to Universal Ads and complete authorization.
Once connected, Universal Ads becomes an available publishing destination within Canva.
Export video creative to Universal Ads
After creating or editing a video in Canva:
- Choose Universal Ads as your publishing destination under Apps.
- Select your Universal Ads organization and the ad account where the creative should be saved, and enter a creative name.
- Review and correct for any validation messages.
- Publish the video to your Creative Library.
After publishing, the creative will be available in the selected Universal Ads Creative Library.
Creative validation
Before publishing, the Canva app automatically checks your video against Universal Ads creative requirements.
Validation may include:
- Dimensions
- Aspect ratio
- Duration
- File size
- File format
- Frame rate
If a creative doesn't meet requirements, you'll see a specific error message explaining what needs to be updated before publishing again.

Current limitations:
